On
30th june 2019, the government of india signed a deal with Russia
for acquiring the ‘strum ataka’ anti – tank missikes worth around rs200 crore.
With this procurement the mi- 35 attack choppers will get an added capability
to take out enemy tanks and other armored elements. The deal has been signed
under the emergency clause as a result within a time of 3 months of the signing
of the contract.
Mi-35
is Indian air forces existing attack chopper that is set to be replaced with
the apache gunships being acquired from the us. Earliar, IAF signed Rs 300
crore dels with an Israeli defense firm to procure a batch of ‘spice 2000’
guided bombs under the emergency provisions.
