It has a
strong defense industrial infrastructure with four units of Hindustan
aeronautics ltd at different places and one unit of bharat electronics limited
at Ghaziabad.
Formerly
known as the Indian Ocean rim initiative and Indian Ocean rim association
consisting of coastal states bordering the Indian Ocean. The IORA is an
international organization with 21 members with states Australia, Bangladesh,
Comoros, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius,
Mozambique, Oman, Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Srilanka,
Tanzania, Thailand, UAE and Yemen.
